We are open to perform painting with friends and guests, celebrating one year of collaborative and ongoing painting in our space in progress in Bucharest. The BvB activity includes workshops, art books, performances, arts & crafts, shows, music, residencies and talks. Autonomous thinkers and creators are invited to develop throughout dialogue ideas and objects that could integrate in the common space. Time and action are individual, the goals form while dealing with each other.

All between artist friends: 2D adventures, struggle and euphoria on a common way from chaotic potentiality to specific and subjective meanings of reality.
The BvB volumes were presented by “Between Books” Art Book Fair, held between 20-22 September 2024 in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf.

lagoon residency
Since April 2024 BvB offers to its artist and performer friends the possibility to develop their artistic practice in the inspiring atmosphere of the Venice lagoon. Through self-experience and discussions among each other Giles Eldridge, Lost.Optics, James Kirwan, Anca Muresan, Baptiste Bersoux, Narumi Saso, Roberta Curca, Sylvie Roulin and others aspire to express own vision in a collective work of art on PARADISE-ISOLATION.
Comic art book
THE LAST SHORT STORY OF BEATRICE GOING TO BABEL / THE FIRST SHORT STORY OF BEATRICE COMING FROM BABEL inon-formal comic book in progress. The seemingly abstract story underlines the collaboration between opposites and suggests funny moments even in difficult situations when dealing with each other.
The publication is expected to be released in September 2024 by Qualitaner publishers.
Open studio
ISOLA CERTOSA is a protected island in the Venetian Lagoon. BvB invited several international artists, historians and performers to experience the unique situation of a silent and peaceful Paradise in the middle of the most obvious contemporary art–tourism-holiday triumvirate.
The ongoing OPEN STUDIO on Certosa started on 17th April 2024, and is based on direct, subjective observation in situ concerning non-spectacular epiphanies that each of us can have, when prepared for introspection.
Headquarter
Beatrice von Babel started in 2022 as a collaborative dynamic organism of independent artists. Since 2023 BvB has had the status of a non-profit foundation, aiming to encourage and sustain connections between different fields of international art. From November 2023, BvB has been organising monthly events in a performative SPACE IN PROGRESS in Bucharest at Paleologu str. 18 (except during the summer vacation).
Public mural
IN TURN is the ongoing BvB mural at the Goethe Institute in Bucharest, and can be viewed in different stages of its metamorphosis in the Pavilion 32 on Calea Dorobanți str. 32, during the opening hours of the library (except during the summer vacation). This wall painting marks the first mural collaboration between Lost.Optics, Pisica Pătrată and Anca Mureșan. Works on paper by Giles Eldridge, Irina Matthes and Bernd Kastner were integrated into the installation from March 2023. The mural continues to evolve in a flexible way under the institutional circumstances and based on the dialogue between its authors.
Book release
The Goethe Institute Bucharest hosts the launch of the first two volumes EFFI & PYM and PYM.EFFI by Beatrice von Babel in the context of the mural created by Pisica Patrata, Anca Muresan, Lost.Optics. The mural in the Pavilion 32 is part of the exhibition Under the House produced by BvB Foundation in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, the French Institute and ARCUB, Bucharest.
The artist talk will be attended by: artist Anca Muresan, author Caius Dobrescu, gallerist Dan Popescu. Introduction dr. Joachim Umlauf.
